Beliefs – Bethany Nepali Church Harrisburg

Our Belief

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. We believe God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. We believe God made Man in His own image.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe in the triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. - Genesis 1:26

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired breath of God. - Exodus 24:14 - 2 Tim 3:16

Man was created by God(Genesis 2:7), and fell into sin (Genesis 3:9), and can only be restored in relationship with God by God's grace.

We strongly believe that salvation is only possible by the grace of the Lord through faith in Jesus and not by work. - Ephesians 2:8,9

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ in autonomous local congregation of Baptist believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. The New Testament also speaks of the church as the body of Christ which includes all the redeemed of all the ages.

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believers in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's crucifixion, burial and resurrection with Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3,4)

  • What: Baptism illustrates Christ's death, burial and resurrection. It also illustrates my new life as a Christian. - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Colossians 2:12, II Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:4
  • Who:  Everyone who believes in Christ should be baptized. At Bethany Church we wait until people are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. - Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12-13
  • Why:  Because Jesus was baptized and we are to follow His example. It is a command given by Christ, symbolizing that I really am His follower. - Mark 1:9, Mathew 28:19-20, Acts 18:8
  • How:  We believe that baptism should be immersion. The word baptize(baptizo) means 'to immerse in water.' The baptisms in the New Testament are all done this way. It is a symbol of the object of our faith: the death and resurrection of Christ. - Mathew 3:16-17, Acts 8:38-39

The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness undergirded by a Christian lifestyle, and by others methods in harmony with gospel Christ. - Mathew 28:19,20
